Synology FlashStation FS6400 is a 2U rackmount server designed for I/O-intensive and latency-sensitive tasks, ideal for multimedia post-production, virtual machines, online transaction processing, or database applications.
Designed for I/O-intensive and latency-sensitive tasks, including multimedia post-production, virtual machines, online transaction processing, database applications, and more, the FlashStation FS6400 24-Bay NAS Enclosure from Synology is an all-flash server. It has a 2 RU form factor and can be installed into racks using a separately sold Synology RKS1317 Rail Kit. It provides more than 240,000 4K random write IOPS and is equipped with twenty-four 2.5″ drive bays that support SAS hard drives and SSDs, as well as SATA SSDs. Using its twenty-four drive bays, this NAS will allow you to store and share a large number of files, including videos, music, photos, and documents with up to 16,000 user accounts and 10,000 maximum concurrent connections.
The FlashStation FS6400 runs on Synology DiskStation Manager (DSM) OS, which is a browser-based operating system which helps to simplify managing your Synology NAS. It has dual 2.1 GHz Intel Xeon Silver 4110 Eight-Core CPUs with a burst frequency of up to 3.0 GHz, and its 32GB of DDR4 ECC Registered RAM, which can be upgraded to 512GB, allows frequently used files and applications to be quickly accessed.
Also featured are two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports and one expansion port which allow it to be connected to compatible devices, such as two RX1217sas or two FX2421 expansion units for increased storage capacity. Network connectivity is achieved via the two 10 Gigabit Ethernet and two Gigabit Ethernet ports, all of which support Link Aggregation and Failover, allowing your stored data to be shared with users throughout the network. There are also two PCIe 3.0 x8/x8 slots, which can be used for optional Ethernet add-in cards.
For those who require RAID support, the FS6400 supports RAID F1, which is designed to work specifically with SSDs. RAID F1 unevenly distributes the overall workload between the drives, thus helping to enhance the storage pool and keep your data safe. Also supported are RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, and 10, each of which provides speed, data redundancy, or a combination of both. For those who do not require a RAID, JBOD is available.
The FlashStation FS6400 is engineered to be energy efficient. Not only does it offer four 80 x 80mm fans to help keep the system running cool at all times, but the server supports numerous scheduled power on/off cycles and hard drive hibernation to further minimize power consumption and operation expenses.
The Synology FlashStation FS6400 24-Bay NAS Enclosure operates using dual redundant 800W power supplies that run at 100-240 VAC at 50/60 Hz and includes an accessory pack and two power cords. Protection is provided by a limited 5-year warranty.
