The compact 1U 4-bay Synology RackStation RS822+/RS822RP+ with its storage and connectivity expandability coupled with the powerful Synology DiskStation Manager (DSM) operating system is an ideal edge storage solution for branch offices and small and medium-sized businesses.
The RackStation RS822RP+ 4-Bay NAS Enclosure from Synology is a 4-bay rackmount NAS enclosed in a compact 1 RU chassis. Running the Synology DiskStation Manager (DSM) operating system, it is ideal for data backup, sharing, and synchronization. Its small size, stable performance, and storage scalability make it suitable for branch offices and small- and medium-sized businesses with ever-increasing data management needs. It delivers sequential read speeds of up to 2103 MB/s and sequential write speeds of up to 1074 MB/s and has four drive bays, each of which natively supports 3.5″ SATA hard drives, as well as 2.5″ SATA hard drives and SSDs. Should users need to expand the overall capacity of their RS822RP+, the optional RX418 expansion unit offers an additional four drive bays. This model is powered using dual redundant power supplies.
The RackStation RS822RP+ is powered by a 2.2 GHz AMD Ryzen V1500B quad-core processor, which will allow you to run multiple functions simultaneously. The 2GB of DDR4 ECC RAM will allow quick access to frequently used files and programs and may also be upgraded to a total of 32GB. Also featured are two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports and one eSATA port. Network connectivity is achieved via the four Gigabit Ethernet ports with failover support, which help to provide redundancy in case a LAN connection malfunction occurs on one port. In addition, link aggregation, powered by four LAN ports, helps to increase connection speeds beyond the limits of a single network port or cable. If you’re looking to expand this NAS, there is one PCIe 3.0 x8/x4 slot that can be used to add a 10GbE SFP+/RK45 or 25GbE SFP28 add-in network card, an M.2 SSD adapter card, or an M.2 NVMe SSD & 10GbE combo adapter card.
A variety of RAID modes are supported, which help provide users with data redundancy, speed, or a combination of both. Supported RAID modes include RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, Basic, and Synology Hybrid RAID. For those who do not require a RAID, JBOD is also available, allowing each drive bay to be individually utilized.
The RackStation RS822RP+ stays cool using two 40mm fans and operates on 100-240 VAC at 50/60 Hz. Included is an accessory pack and two AC power cords. Protection is provided by a limited 3-year hardware warranty.
