With its compact 1U form factor, the 12-bay Synology FlashStation FS2500 is the ideal storage solution for small and medium-sized businesses looking to improve the responsiveness of I/O-intensive applications such as virtual machines (VMs), light databases, or email servers.
Designed for I/O-intensive and latency-sensitive applications, the FlashStation FS2500 12-Bay NAS Enclosure from Synology is an all-flash server designed for virtual machines, container storage, email, and databases. It has a 1 RU form factor and can be installed into racks using a separately sold Synology RKS-01 Rail Kit. It provides sequential reads up over 4700 MB/s and sequential writes of over 2500 MB/s, as well as up 172,552 4K random read IOPS and up to 82,917 4K random write IOPS. It is equipped with twelve 2.5″ SATA SSD drive bays that will let you store and share a large number of files, including videos, music, photos, and documents with up to 16,000 user accounts and 8000 maximum concurrent connections.
The FlashStation FS2500 runs on Synology DiskStation Manager (DSM) OS, which is a browser-based operating system that helps to simplify managing your Synology NAS. It has a 3.35 GHz AMD Ryzen V1780B Quad-Core processor with a burst frequency of up to 3.6 GHz, and its 8GB of DDR4 ECC memory, which can be upgraded to 32GB, allows frequently used files and applications to be quickly accessed.
Also featured are two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports and network connectivity is achieved via the two 10 Gigabit Ethernet and two Gigabit Ethernet ports, all of which support Link Aggregation and Failover, allowing your stored data to be shared with users throughout the network. There is also one PCIe 3.0 x8/x4 slot, which can be used for a 10/25/40GbE NIC.
For those who require RAID support, the FS2500 supports RAID F1, which is designed to work specifically with SSDs. RAID F1 unevenly distributes the overall workload between the drives, thus helping to enhance the storage pool and keep your data safe. Also supported are RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, and 10, each of which provides speed, data redundancy, or a combination of both. For those who do not require a RAID, JBOD is available.
The FlashStation FS2500 is engineered to be energy efficient. Not only does it offer four 40 x 40 x 28mm fans to help keep the system running cool at all times, but the server supports numerous scheduled power on/off cycles and hard drive hibernation to further minimize power consumption and operation expenses.
The Synology FlashStation FS2500 24-Bay NAS Enclosure operates using redundant power supplies that run at 100-240 VAC at 50/60 Hz. Included is an accessory pack and two power cords, while protection is provided by a limited 5-year warranty.
